SEPTEMBER 20, 2007: JASOLA VIHAR BECOMES A NEW CENTRE IN NEW DELHI

Under Anjali Baveja, Regional Director, New Delhi, Jasola Vihar in South Delhi has become the latest AVJM centre in India. This centre will begin with 20 children in academic year 2007-08.

JANUARY 22, 2007: UTTAR PRADESH OPERATIONS EXPAND TO INCLUDE BACHHRAON, AMROHA

Amjad Khan, Regional Director has expanded the West Uttar Pradesh operations to include two new locations. An additional 160 children will benefit under this expansion.

JULY 28, 2006: JAMSHEDPUR, JHARKHAND OPERATIONS BEGIN

AVJM starts its latest center in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Under Nayantara Sharma, Regional Director about 65 children will be sponsored to schools in the academic year 2006-07.

JUNE 16, 2006: WEST UTTAR PRADESH OPERATIONS START IN SAHASPUR

Amjad Khan, Regional Director has started AVJM operations in West UP. Over 80 children are the intended beneficiary of AVJM grants in the academic year 2006-07.

MARCH 31 2006: AVJM INDIA'S NEW DELHI OPERATIONS COMMENCE IN LAJPAT NAGAR

In New Delhi, Shuchi Vandana, Regional Director, New Delhi has undertaken the responsibility to bring educational opportunities to children from slums and streets. About 100 children will be sponsored to school in the academic year 2006-07.

JUNE 08 2005: AVJM INDIA'S BAREILY OFFICE IS INAUGURATED

AVJM’s latest office has been set up at Bareily. The City Mayor, Anupam Satyasheel – Executive Director Strategy and Practice, AVJM USA and Abhiram Jaisheel – Zonal Director for East Zone for AVJM India, did the inauguration. At this occasion, hundreds of people gathered to express their support for this social drive. Local press, Television and Radio gave extensive coverage to this event. Nirupama, the Zonal Director – North India, expressed her confidence that this office will be able to spread educational initiatives to many parts of the state.

JULY 19 2004: AVJM INDIA RESTRUCTURES ITS GOVERNING BODY

Consequent to the demise of its first President Bachhi Tewary, AVJM appoints a new President – Taneesha Kulshreshtha. Taneesha is a great leader and is widely experienced in corporate and social environments. AVJM also has restructured the Governing Body elevating Abhinandan Kumar to the position of the Vice-President and reliving Shivani Gupta from her responsibility as Vice-President. Amjad Khan will be the new treasurer.

JULY 17 2004: BACHHI TEWARY, THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF AVJM INDIA PASSES AWAY  

Bachhi Tewary, the first President of the Society passes away at the age of 71. She was one of the founding members of the Society and AVJM would continue to draw inspiration from her great passion for child education and social equality. A woman of great courage and determination, Bachhi Tewary attended school only until class seven but she understood the importance of education and consistently fought for the needs of underprivileged children. 

JUNE 25 2004: AVJM NEW DELHI OPERATIONS BEGIN

AVJM has set up its Indian Operations Office at Amar Colony, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi. The operations office will handle all the routine matters of the Society. Anupam Satyasheel has provided the space and infrastructure for this office at no cost to the Society.

JUNE 15 2004: AVJM IS FOUNDED AS A NATIONAL SOCIETY IN INDIA

AVJM is registered as a National Society in New Delhi, India. The following are the position holders in the Governing Body of AVJM.
